Ginger: Pain Relief
Description:
Ginger essential oil is made from the root of the ginger plant. This root is known to aid digestion when eaten, but the oil is mainly used to relieve pain.
As always, read the directions on your ginger essential oil box. I suggest mixing it with caster oil if it needs to be diluted. NEVER drink ginger essential oil. A little essential oil goes a LONG way.
In my own experience, I’ve found massaging the oil directly into your skin to be the most effective way to use its pain-relieving properties.
What Ginger is Good For
Here are a few of the specific conditions ginger oil may help with.
Planter Fasheites
Rubbing a mix of ginger and caster oil into the bottom of your foot can reduce the plantar fasciitis inflammation. I suggest combining this with hot and cold foot treatments to alleviate pain and reduce recovery time. You’ll want to soak the foot in hot water for three minutes and then place it into cold water for thirty seconds. Do this three times, then use the ginger and caster oil mixture.
Nausea
Rub a drop or two of ginger oil into your temples and the base of your neck. You could also take 1-2 drops internally if it is mixed with a glass of water. Generally speaking, I don’t recommend taking essential oils internally for months on end.
Menstrual Cycle Pain
You could take up to two drops of ginger essential oil daily when experiencing muscle pain and menstrual cramps. Always take these drops mixed in a cup of water. You can also rub the oil on your skin to alleviate the discomfort caused by cramps and muscle spasms.
