Watch The Time - Avoid Being Locked Into a Bad Situation

Mark 13:37 “And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.”

Locked In

Back in the late 80s or early 90s, I belonged to a science fiction fan club in Grand Junction, Colorado.  We met for a short time in the Valley Federal Bank building.  We held our meetings in the basement of the bank in the late afternoon and we were out by closing time each day.  Well…usually we were out by closing time.  One afternoon we had gotten into a discussion that lasted longer than usual and we lost track of the time.  One of the club members looked at their watch and saw that it was much later than we should have been there.

We headed up to the ground floor and noticed no one in the lobby.  We walked over to the glass doors to leave but the doors were locked.  We could see our cars sitting outside where we had parked them but they were completely out of reach.  This was before the advent of cell phones and all of the phones in the lobby were locked behind closed office doors.   We were trapped in the bank.

Watch Your Time Before YOU Get Locked In

Sometimes we can find ourselves stuck in our jobs, relationships, life plans, or life in general.  We know where we want to go and how we want to get there but we are trapped by circumstances that we can’t get passed.  We would ask for help but we don’t even know how to reach out to anyone.  We say that life just took over, shrug our shoulders, and resign ourselves to living in our situation while wondering how we ever got stuck here.

Often the answer to that question is that we weren’t watching what was going on.  By that, I mean that we didn’t keep our eyes on all the variables in our lives.  We didn’t consider how they might interact in a way that would leave us unable to keep going forward on all the different life paths we were trying to travel.  By the time we realized what was happening, the doors were locked.

Or maybe we got trapped by circumstances because the time to move forward came but we were busy with something else.  Maybe that something was important or maybe it wasn’t but we lost our opportunity and now it seems that the old saying is true:  Opportunity only knocks once.”

As difficult as it may be there are usually ways to get out of what we feel mired in.  Sometimes it just takes talking with someone else to get a new perspective on the situation.  If we can learn to watch, to balance our lives, we have a better chance of avoiding getting stuck by life circumstances.

Feeling Locked In? Talk To Someone

The reason that Turn & Heal Coaching was started was to help people who’ve gotten into situations that they don’t know how to get out of, just like we did.  That’s right.  We’ve been where you are, maybe not in your exact situation, but we’ve been stuck ourselves and we know the frustration and the anxiety that can cause.  If you feel trapped and the doors seem to be locked, consider giving us a call.  We’re here to help find the key.
